Why the Dominant Paradigm?
It started out as a joke based around Jersey Shore. I’m a gym buff, and into fake tanning products and maintain a reasonably high level of personal hygiene for a grad student so it started when a colleague likened me to The Situation. Gym, tan, laundry. It summarises many of my days. Anyway. I wanted a “Guido” name, and I’m a PhD student in cultural studies, and I thought “Yeah, I will call myself the Dominant Paradigm”.
That way, if some bro gets all up in my grill, to use the vernacular, I can be all like, “You want to fight the Dominant Paradigm?”
Or if you confuse me, I could be all like, “Way to subvert the Dominant Paradigm.”
Anyway, it was a joke with limited sticking power.
I’m a PhD student writing on popular culture and Mikhael Bakhtin. I also do some games scholarship, dabble in feminist theory and probably refer to Marx more than is strictly socially responsible. I also like to train at the gym. I used to have a social life, but I stopped feeding it and it ran away.
Anyway, that’s my first blog post.
